It has been almost one year since I was last in colorful and cool Colorado (yeah, that does rhyme), and I am a bit nostalgic… my heart is really tied there. So I thought I would rummage through my gobs of photos and spend some time remembering.
As we drove out of the valley where Lake City nestles, we stopped for one last look across the mountain range on Windy Point. Here we are squinting in the morning sun. A beautiful day to leave Colorado!
At this time of year, it is especially nice to spend a few days away from the intense heat of Texas.
There is really no way to describe the feeling I get when I see the soaring mountains in the distance, and feel the crisp clean air on my face.
The mountains in the San Juan range are each unique, beautiful and majestic. They point to the sky, causing my breath to be taken away. Everything is bathed in color, so alive and vivid.
This is on the land where Phoebe remarked that she could open a wedding venue, because it is a perfect setting with the stands of Aspens, the sky and openness of the fields. This particular property was for sale at that time.
Some day when I’m married, I want to take my husband to these places and share with him the rich experiences I’ve enjoyed over the years.
I want to take him to California Pass where you feel like you’re on top of the world…
It would be great if he could stay here at the Lodge which is a luxurious place to be on any given day…
And we definitely have to go Jeeping, to Engineer Pass and all the other sights on the Alpine Loop…
And we’d have to explore all of the little ghost towns along the way and get cool photos of old tumbled down buildings…
We’d drink in the beauty of the Aspens, Spruce and Blue fir trees which make Colorado so colorful and alive…
Here is the Jeep we took last year on the Loop. It was so much fun to ride in the open top and stand up and enjoy the big skies and mountaintops!
This is one of my favorite pictures with Phoebe! We were having more fun together than we’d ever had, and the memories… they will be with me for a lifetime.
O-Point is where this photo was taken. On a clear day, you can supposedly see all the way to Montrose.
This is what we saw each and every morning from Red Cloud Lodge. A million dollar view for sure!
To close the post, one of the evenings we experienced this beautiful rainy sun set… it takes my breath away every time I look at it. It is just so lovely and colorful.

Colorado is an amazing place to visit, especially the South Western corner, which is where I went. If you ever come to the US, you should try to go there.
Thank you for the kind words about the pictures! My sister and I really had a blast photographing the gorgeous sites.
