President Obama’s War on Libya Has No Basis on US Law but Was Authorized by the New World Order
By Jimmy DeYoung
The title of a Washington Times editorial states that US President Obama’s illegal war on Libya was authorized by a UN resolution, not the Constitution of the US which calls for the US Congress to authorize any military activity undertaken by the US military, a point that can be argued by both sides of the issue.

Libya and the War Powers Act
By Phyllis Schlafly
One of the reasons leftwingers voted for Barack Obama for President in 2008 was that they opposed the war in Iraq. The anti-war left is disappointed that Obama continued the Iraq war, escalated Afghanistan, and started a new war in Libya.

Can Altar Calls Produce False Converts?
We’ve got ten million southern Baptists who walked somebody’s aisle, and prayed somebody’s prayer and checked somebody’s card and raised their hand….we’ve got ten million of them that do not come to church. And when they face Jesus one day, at the Judgement bar, they’re going to quote some preacher…..’Well, Pastor said if I’d come to the front…I did that. Pastor said if I prayed that prayer….I did that.’ Do you not realize that if you give the flesh a hoop to jump, the flesh will do it every time? But one thing the flesh cannot do is cause your spirit to be born again.

New Perspectives on N.T. Wright
By Paul Taylor
N.T. Wright is an English theologian and Anglican clergyman. From 2003 through 2010, he was Bishop of Durham – the fourth most senior position in the Church of England (after the Archbishoprics of Canterbury and York, and the Bishopric of London), entitling him, while in office, to take a seat in the House of Lords.

Attack of the NGOs
By Tom DeWeese
One rarely hears of it. Few elected officials raise an eyebrow. The media makes no mention of it. But power is slowly slipping away from our elected representatives. In much the same way Mao Tse-tung had his Red Guards, so the UN has its NGOs They may well be your masters of tomorrow, and you don’t even know who or what they are. There are, in fact, two parallel, complimentary forces operating in the world, working together to advance the global Sustainable Development agenda, ultimately heading toward UN global governance. Those two forces are the UN itself and non-governmental organizations (NGOs.)

Sir Isaac Newton was Right. Atheism is senseless
By Ray Comfort
The Bible doesn’t mince words. It calls the atheist a “fool” (see Psalm 14:1) and speaks of “his foolish heart” being “darkened.” It says that certain godless man are “proud, knowing nothing,” and that they are “obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth…” (1 Timothy 6:4-5).

In Defense of the Gospel: A Response to the Expose Written by Dr. Catherine Millard concerning the documentary film, The Hidden Faith of the Founding Fathers
By Christian Pinto
Since the release of our film, “The Hidden Faith of the Founding Fathers,” there have been a number of challengers to the information we present, since we argue that the real faith of the American revolutionaries was hostile to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In our film, our defense is for the Gospel and not Christian “principles.” The difference between the two, in our opinion, is the difference between the Disciples of Jesus and the Pharisees. The Pharisees followed certain principles of Mosaic Law, but they rejected the true Messiah. The same can be said of many Revolutionary Founders, who said some things in favor of the Bible or the Christian Religion, but openly rejected Jesus as the Son of God, and Savior of our souls.

How Deep the Father’s Love for Us ~ Fernando Ortega

No I haven’t dropped off the face of the earth…

It has been a while since I last blogged. Eek!  Bad me.

This week we are having Vacation Bible School, and I am assisting with music and also in a class.  This year’s theme is Gold Rush: Discovering the Rock of Ages, with a wild west / cowtown set in our sanctuary. :)   The kids are pretty excited about the set, and all of the activities each evening.

Besides that, we enjoyed a nice afternoon and evening celebrating Dad’s birthday / Father’s Day with Dad’s family and with friends from church, and family friends.  Part of the day was a surprise for dad which we had planned only a week in advance.  After we ate lunch, people began showing up.  We had cake and ice cream and other desserts, and just enjoyed fellowshipping, laughing and singing.  Dad was able to speak with his brother who lives overseas, which was a cool way to celebrate his special day!

Little Cheep is getting SO big.  We still don’t know what gender the chicken is. After the recent rain storms we had, we let it out into the garden where it spent quite a while pecking for worms and other bugs.  It is so funny to watch as it feeds and drinks.

I learned a new name for Jesus last night which I didn’t remember ever reading before.  “And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

That’s about all folks.

{Lists} Study / research

There are always new things I would like to research and learn more about.  Here are some that I would like to get done this summer, and write about.

Study/Research:

  • Marriage ceremony traditions (the why behind such things as garters, unity candles, bridesmaids)
  • Birth control, adoption and in vetro fertilization
  • Thankfulness
  • Humility
  • Gardening/homesteading
  • Chickens

Are there new areas of knowledge that you would like to explore this summer?  If so, what are they and why?

I miss you

On the 15th of June it was 8 months since Grandpa passed away.

My how the time has swiftly passed since you were with us last and all the things you used to do, are now just a memory in hearts, but you are far from forgotten, you are always near in our thoughts and minds; we were just talking of you, and all that you used to do, and say, and how much we miss you every day; and how strange it seems that you are gone, the absence we feel in our hearts and homes, when only Grandma comes to call.

In honor of:

J.J.K – “Grandpa” ~ We miss you!!

I’ll need you Dad

Happy Father’s Day Dad!!

A golden day!

My father turns the big half century mark today!  It is hard to believe that now both of my parents have reached that milestone in their lives (it makes me feel old), not that I wasn’t expecting them to die or anything, but it puts life into perspective.

Dad’s real name is David, and like I have done with some others, I would like to describe him using an acrostic.

D - Dashing (at least my mom thinks so ;) )

A - Adventerous (like the time we were in Colorado, and we stopped to wade in the Texas river)

V - Very important ;)

I – Industrious

D – Doer

Dad I hope that you have a super duper wonderful day!  I know that you will be pretty busy preparing your sermons for tomorrow, but I hope that you will be blessed as you seek to minister to others through the words He gives.

I love you!! <3

Top dog in 2012?

There is much discussion within America politics today as to which of the myriad GOP candidates will be “top” against Barack Obama in the 2012 election.  So far, the party seems to be divided in numerous directions, due to the colorful platform of potential players.

An interesting article presents the candidacies of Mitt Romney (former Gov. of Mass) and Congressman Ron Paul (R. Tx) in complete juxtaposition:

Thus, Romney must finagle his way through the primary, embracing socially conservative positions that he may disagree with privately.  The media and the traditionally “conservative” Republicans point out his inconsistencies and ridicule his positions as “too liberal” for Republicans.  As a result, the Republican Party gets a candidate who is unappealing to their base, and the average American voter thinks he is a typical politician who will say anything to get into office. On the other hand, Ron Paul is arguably the most consistent candidate from any party.  He states his opinions, which haven’t changed much in 30+ years, whether or not that particular opinion helps his chances of winning.  He is a classical liberal, which in today’s terms, means he is a conservative libertarian: advocating limited government intervention in both the economic and social arenas.  He advocates an end to the federal drug war, an end to the federal income tax, and even an end to federal government involvement in marriage.  Ron Paul is consistent despite the fact that “traditional” Republicans will find many of his positions unappealing.

Of course, these are not the only two running for the nation’s highest office.  Just this afternoon, I was listening to a radio talk show where the commentators were lamenting the fact that there is no defined GOP top runner.

Just as a side note, Ron Paul has outstripped all other candidates (whether declared or undeclared) in campaign monies since he announced his intentions in early May.  Oh yeah, and he is also ahead of GOP favorites Palin and Romney in the book department as well (his latest book Liberty Defined is doing quite well).

After the most recent CNN sponsored debate earlier this week, I think it was clear just how much of an influence Paul has had.  The topics discussed were certainly worthwhile (for the most part), and the responses made by the other candidates were certainly not all that on target, but had a hint of Pauline doctrine.

Listen to the candidates, and decide for yourself who you would like to place the presidency into the hands of, but for me, I have already made up my mind.  Ron Paul is a solid constitutionalist, who actually knows why he believes what he believes and is unafraid to defend it, even when he is isolated and ostracized.

This is only the beginning of an exciting and interesting election cycle…

RUSSIAN AND IRANIAN LEADERS MEET FOR SUMMIT IN CENTRAL ASIA: Echoes of Ezekiel 38-39 coalition
By Joel Rosenberg
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev met Wednesday with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and other Central Asian and Far East Asian leaders at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held in the Kazakhstan capital of Astana. The SCO, formed in 2001, is widely seen a rival to NATO. There, Ahmadinejad delivered a blistering speech against the “slavers and colonizers” of the West, called for a new world order, including the building of an anti-Western military and political alliance.

Who Checked Out Leon Panetta?
By Cliff Kincaid
In a new revelation in the Panettagate scandal, CIA Director Leon Panetta inserted a tribute in the April 11, 1984, Congressional Record to one of his constituents, Lucy Haessler, calling her a “woman of peace” for her work in the pro-Soviet Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF). This is when Panetta was a California Congressman representing Santa Cruz.

American’s economic crisis and the need for deficit reduction is critical
By Michael Weiner
Unless you have been stranded on an island with no outside communication I’m about to tell you something you already know. American’s economic crisis and the need for deficit reduction is critical. We cannot continue to spend at present levels. Our nation is in a crisis and unless we soon address the problems, we will soon be joining the ranks of Greece, Portugal, Ireland, and Spain. That is why the rest of the world is looking beyond the dollar as a reserve currency for use is pricing commodities, because the American dollar has lost its value.

SWAT Team Mania: The War Against the American Citizen
By John Whitehead
“He [a federal agent] had his knee on my back and I had no idea why they were there.”-Anthony Wright, victim of a Dept. of Education SWAT team raid The militarization of American police-no doubt a blowback effect of the military empire-has become an unfortunate part of American life. In fact, it says something about our reliance on the military that federal agencies having nothing whatsoever to do with national defense now see the need for their own paramilitary units. Among those federal agencies laying claim to their own law enforcement divisions are the State Department, Department of Education, Department of Energy, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the National Park Service, to name just a few. These agencies have secured the services of fully armed agents-often in SWAT team attire-through a typical bureaucratic sleight-of-hand provision allowing for the creation of Offices of Inspectors General (OIG). Each OIG office is supposedly charged with not only auditing their particular agency’s actions but also uncovering possible misconduct, waste, fraud, theft, or certain types of criminal activity by individuals or groups related to the agency’s operation. At present, there are 73 such OIG offices in the federal government that, at times, perpetuate a police state aura about them.

Sir Isaac Newton was Right. Atheism is senseless
By Ray Comfort
How can any person have meaningful dialog with someone who is unreasonable and refuses to call creation what it is–a creation? But the root of the corrupt tree isn’t atheism–it’s pride (see Psalm 10:4). I am encouraged that some, who profess to be atheists, write to me outside of this blog, and some even show up at the ministry for lunch or just to chat.

C-r-a-z-y hair

Phoebe and I braided our hair into several small braids after our shower last night, and here is the result!  Phoebe’s hair is naturally wavy, so it made it even more beautiful. :)

She has gorgeous hair…

Yours truly

My hair looks golden from this angle.  It sometimes has a brownish tint, especially if it is wet.
