The Bigger Scandal: Catholic Church Funding of ACORN

Federal funding of ACORN is not just a Democratic Party or Obama Administration problem. As a chart (PDF) produced by House Republican Leader John Boehner shows, most of the federal money going to the organization was provided under President George W. Bush. This is not something that most Republicans want to talk about, especially now that they can use ACORN funding as a weapon against Obama and the Democrats. To Boehner’s credit, however, he had sent a letter to Bush asking him to block all federal funding of ACORN. The Bush Administration did not comply.

Calling Muslims to the Capitol?

As nations such as Canada, Great Britain, the Netherlands (and many others in Europe) have become more secular, they have demonstrated a willingness to embrace virtually anything – anything except their traditional Christian foundations. In fact, they now regularly repudiate those foundations, promoting abortion, legalizing homosexual marriage, and changing their traditional legal codes. And accepting the falsehood that all beliefs are equal and that truth is relative, they have even been willing to incorporate Islamic Sharia law into their legal codes in order to protect the special practices of some Muslims living among them. This has energized many Muslims in those countries and they are displaying a new boldness that is vocal, visible, and demonstrably assertive.

Who Lied?

The sanctimonious shock at Rep. Joe Wilson’s (R-SC) calling out “You lie” when Barack Obama said the health care bill will not insure illegal aliens reminds me of the Casablanca police chief saying he was “shocked, shocked” to learn that gambling was taking place in the saloon. Barack Obama’s congressional pals had defeated the Republican amendment to require proof of legal residency in order to be covered by the health care bill, and the American people know that illegals are now getting free health care at emergency rooms.

After a long hiatus due to being super busy getting ready to leave on vacation earlier this month, and the fact that our home internet connection is at this point, not working, it is good to “be back”.
Although, I have learned a few lessons whilst being “out” and I would like to share them with you my dear readers:
- The importance of re-discovering my love for Jesus. I was able to focus a lot on my spiritual walk while on vacation. I read my Bible each day and was able to really reflect on my current spiritual condition.
- There is more to life (MUCH more) than social networking sites, on-line chats, and blogging. As I read the life and testament of the late Jim Elliot in the book Shadow of the Almighty I was once again challenged to live my life wholeheartedly for Jesus and to committ to serve Him with everything I have!
- Finally, Jesus is still in control. Even if it seems like this world is going to “pot” or to “hell in a handbasket.” If all of our earthly plans seem to be on track with disaster, to borrow the words from an old hymn “Jesus shall reign where ere the sun, does His successive journeys run; His kingdom spread from shore to shore, Till moons shall wax and wane no more.”
All that to say that through this recent trip, I have come to -re-realize the vast importance of using God’s time that He is allowing me to use, wisely! “Redeeming the time because the days are evil.” This is truly something I must do. And so, I will not be doing as much on-line as I had previously.
May you my friends find that Jesus is all sufficient and that His grace is there for our every need!

Colorado Journal: Chronicaling the Adventures from my recent trip to Lake City, CO (9/11/09-9/20/09)

After driving from our home in McKinney (N. of Dallas) through horrific rush-hour traffic in the rain, we reached the home of my uncle and aunt in Crowley, Texas around 7:00.

Before we got to their house though, I must tell you of our other adventures on the way. First off, we stopped in downtown Fort Worth to take in the Fort Worth Water Gardens (free admission) – a special place to my dad because he took my mom there during their honeymoon.
The Quiet garden is very unique, because you are completely surrounded by water, here the water rushes down the walls near by the Cypress trees – Such a beautful sound!
Within 5 minutes of arriving, the sky released a liquid torrant on our heads and very shortly thereafter we were soaked to the skin! In spite of our being thoroughly wet, we enjoyed the various gardens, water-falls, and beautiful foilage.
I’ve forgotten the name of this garden, but it sounds like a gigantic sprinkler system watering a lawn! It was pouring rain at this point.
We then headed to the campus of Southwestern Baptist Theological Simnary (SWBTS) where my dad had taken 2 years of his master’s degree program in the 80s. It is a beautiful campus full of towering trees and stately buildings rich with tales from its long history. We didn’t stay long, just drove through on our way to Crowley.
Since it was getting past dinner time, we decided to stop at Taco Bell and order a bite. As we sat in the car munching in silence (except for the spattering of rain on the windshield), we were able to relax a bit after the crazy events of the afternoon.
From there we proceeded to our reletives where we were greeted by Uncle Jay and hustled indoors out of the cold, wet weather. Shortly afterwards, Joel and Caleb unloaded our lugage into the rented van and we bade Dad, Jo and Jaden farewell.
Joel, Caleb and I had a short night at Uncle Jay’s house. We got to bed around 9, and awoke at 5:25. Uncle Jay was working the night shift at Meechem Field, he is an air traffic controller, and he said that we should be ready to leave by the time he got back from his shift (6 am).

Why Must Everything Change?

The false teachings among some prominent church leaders have no end nor does the race to unify all religions. My thanks to Mark Tooley of the Institute for Religion and Democracy, World Net Daily, and author Joel Richardson for some background here. Fasten your seat belt because now we have Christians observing Ramadan. This goes miles beyond Muslim-Christian dialogue, which is bad enough. This is actually giving respectability to those who killed 3,000 innocent Americans who are even more on our mind in this season of 9/11. Once again, I have to ask, where is the outrage?

They report that the U.S. government would like to vaccinate 160 million U.S. citizens by December 2009. Topic Two: Head of New York Fed former president of trade union. Obama is tight with the unions and uses the SEIU union to act as protestors on his behalf. I guess they have become the “rent a mob” for him to use in order to stir up protests against the “haves” as Saul Alinksy wrote. Lenin wrote of the importance of getting Communists in the Union in order to use them for political and economic pressure against the establishment of the free-market. Rockets, Russia, and the Korean Peninsula

South Korea successfully launched a rocket on Tuesday, hoping to put a satellite into space from its own territory for the first time. The launch ended in disappointment when the satellite overshot its intended orbit, but Russia’s assistance has offered South Korea’s space program a solid jump start. In the meanwhile, North Korea has shown some slight softness in recent weeks. While South Korea and the United States are skeptical of real good will, there is hope Kim Jung Il’s failing health may mean he is serious about making a deal.
