Happy 14th Phoebe!

Phoebe is my best friend, a constant cause of joy and happiness. She and I enjoyed being “best buds” for several years before Jo was old enough to join in. Since I’ve grown older, she and Jo have gotten closer, but we still enjoy doing things together, just the two of us.

esterday was my sister Phoebe’s 14th birthday! Boy how the time has flown since I prayed for a sister to be born.
Phoebe is my best friend, a constant cause of joy and happiness. She and I enjoyed being “best buds” for several years before Jo was old enough to join in. Since I’ve grown older, she and Jo have gotten closer, but we still enjoy doing things together, just the two of us.
Her names (Phoebe – Greek for “the moon” literally, but we prefer another meaning, “bright and radiant”; and her middle name, Ann a name derived from the Hebrew Anna meaning “grace, graceful, gracious, full of grace”) suit her perfectly. She is always glowing. Being one of the more quiet members of our family, sometimes it is hard to know what she is thinking, but whenever she shares her heart, it is amazing to find the jewels of wisdom hidden beneath that miscevious smile.
Some things I admire in her:
-
She loves Jesus with all her heart and strives to serve Him more perfectly each day.
-
She is passionate about evangelism; she wants others to know Jesus in a personal way.
-
Her smile lights up the whole house! She is always smiling and cheerful in a world full of sullen people.
-
She loves a challenge, whether academic, sports related or a challenging recipe, she sets her sails “full into the wind” and is determined to be the conquerer.
-
She is a hard, diligent worker.
-
She is a lover of the out doors, we enjoy various activities together outside.
-
She is very smart, and proves it in an un-boastful way ALL the time!
-
She is a loving and obedient daughter and sister.
-
Phoebe is my best friend, and Jo’s as well…. I love that fact!
May the Lord continue to bless you Phoebe and give you His perfect strength to grow in grace and in the knowledge of Jesus each day as you strive to serve Him more fully!
I love you Phoebe!!!

School days~
Jaden and his mousetrap
Jaden is doing a little bit of reading on his very own. But he is “that” close to being an independent reader! So exciting to see, and one day soon the light bulb will come on and he’ll never be the same.

One thing I LOVE about home schooling is, no two days are alike. Each time you sit down to teach, or get up to present, it is unique. The other day was no exception. Since I teach Jaden to read, I usually try to find examples of phrases to use with his word-list.
Jaden and his mousetrap
A teachable moment (teaching on tenses: past, present and future).
The wonderful textbook – Samuel Blumenfeld’s Alpha-Phonics. I HIGHLY reccommend for all home educators to use as a reading / phonics program. I have learned right along Jaden as I teach him each day.

Saul Alinsky Disciple Goes After Conservative and Christian Radio at the FCC
Topic One: The death of Ted Kennedy. Topic Two: FCC chief diversity officer Mark Lloyd wants the government to take away communications from the private sector. Lloyd praised Saul Alinsky in his own book in 2006. Brannon explains what Lloyd is calling for and how it can be used to destroy Christian radio programs and Christian radio stations as well as conservative talk radio and talk stations. Why this is a big part of their revolution. Are we shocked that they are after Christian radio when Saul Alinsky dedicated his book to Lucifer? This is a spiritual battle and the president and his men are doing the work of their father. Topic Three: The “Obama for America” program seeks to use government, tax-payer funded colleges and universities to give college-credits to college students that work for Obama’s agenda. Is this part of Obama’s civil military force? Topic Four: Nearly half of doctors in the UK say they will not personally take the H1N1 vaccine. Why? Topic Five: The senate in Massachusetts has passed a bill that could fine an individual up to $1,000 per day for refusing to take a government mandated vaccine or face up to thirty days in jail. Topic Six: We take your calls.

Understanding Six Worldviews that Rule the World
By David Noebel
On one side is the Christian worldview, the foundation of Western civilization. On the other side are five worldviews: Islam, Secular Humanism, Marxism, Cosmic Humanism, and Postmodernism. While these worldviews don’t agree in every detail, they unanimously concur on one point-their opposition to biblical Christianity.

THE FEDERAL RESERVE MUST DIE
By James Quinn
I’ve read and witnessed various pundits during the Presidential campaign describe Ron Paul as crazy. The corrupt tax and spenders in Congress know their days would be numbered if they followed his vision of government. Ron Paul’s scathing assessment of the Federal Reserve’s primary role in creating the financial crisis and his raking of Chairman Bernanke over the coals is so accurate, truthful and sane that it should blow your mind. Mr. Bernanke must have felt like his head was spinning like a top while Ron Paul gave him a tutorial in basic economics. Mr. Paul’s noble efforts to Audit the Fed (HR 1207) and eventually to rid the country of its insidious control over our lives will bring the pillars of the Federal Reserve building crashing down upon Mr. Bernanke in his mahogany paneled, gold plated boardroom with ornate chandeliers.

End Time Wars – #1 War of Extermination
By Dr. David R. Reagan
Every time a war breaks out in the Middle East, I receive a flurry of phone calls and email messages asking if it could be the War of Armageddon. This question is prompted by the fact that most people are familiar with only one end time war – the one that has been popularized in movies and novels as the “Battle of Armageddon.”

Abe’s Baptism – Written by Julia Kautt (my Mom)
I waited patiently for the LORD;
And He inclined to me,
And heard my cry.
He also brought me up out of a horrible pit,
Out of the miry clay,
And set my feet upon a rock,
And established my steps.
He has put a new song in my mouth –
Praise to our God;
Many will see it and fear,
And will trust in the LORD.
Psalm 40:1-3
This passage was stamped on the diploma Ron and Anna Russell handed to their son, Abraham, this past weekend. After 30 years of serving Satan, the Lord snatched my brother Abe from the pit and has truly set his feet upon a rock – THE Rock, Jesus Christ. After a year in Christian substance abuse rehabilitation, he is a completely changed man. He’s still our lovable Abe, but he’s ever so different. He recognizes that he is not an addict or an alcoholic – he’s a sinner. That realization made it possible for him to lose the cravings for things sinful. Now he is an avid Bible student, eager to please the God who saved him from his death-style, on fire for the Lord!
On Sunday, August 23rd, 2009, several family members and 3 friends gathered in Tyler, Texas at Grace Community Church for an informal ceremony celebrating Abe’s milestone and affirming him in his new life. It was a glorious, sacred, joyous time of healing and thanksgiving. One of those mountaintop experiences that ended way too soon. My father, Ron, who led the gathering, encouraged anyone who desired to speak to the group and / or to Abe. Many sage words were spoken, some targeting the youthful grandchildren present. Many tender words were expressed, some encouraging to Abe, some requesting forgiveness from him. We sang a couple of impromptu songs, had some spontaneous, yet orderly prayers, and then were invited to witness Abe’s baptism.
We moved outdoors to the portable baptistery, where Ron said a few words about the meaning of baptism, especially with regard to Abe. Then Abe shared from his heart.
“I finally became free of my past when I realized that the old man is dead and that I’m gonna make mistakes and it’s okay. But I’ve gotta leave that old man in the grave and I hope y’all can too…. That’s what this is about – this is my dedication to the Lord and welcoming me back home.”
Back at our home, after breakfast Monday morning David asked me to read Psalm 40:1-3 to the family. A song that Mommy used to sing when I was a child came to mind:
There’s a new song in my heart
Since the Savior set me free.
There’s a new song in my heart;
‘Tis a heavenly melody.
All my sins are washed away
In the blood of Calvary.
O what peace and joy -
Nothing can destroy.
There’s a new song in my heart.
Later, a poem flowed from my pen in grateful response to Abe’s changed life:
He fell –
a broken, bleeding mess of a rebel,
shattered relationships surrounding his feet
like so many shards of glass.
The Mighty one has lifted him –
a new creature,
infused with the Spirit of life,
walking purposefully and erect,
in light, peace and power,
passionate to please his Master, Redeemer and Friend,
anxious to see many souls
accompany him into that glorious realm,
where they will all shout,
“Hallelujah! The Lord God omnipotent reigneth!”

My uncle is getting baptized today. He will begin a new life with Jesus as his Savior and Master. This is a day of great celebration for our family! This is the day!!!
37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” 40 And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” 41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
Please pray for Abe as he begins a new life in the Lord. Thank you!!
