Oklahoma leads the way in the 10th Ammendment movement.
The Oklahoma House of Representatives on February 18 became the first state legislative body this year to pass a resolution affirming its “sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the Constitution of the United States.” This resolution, HJR1003, was passed by the very lopsided margin of 83 to 13.
The Senate Judiciary Committee has already approved SJR10, the Senate version of the resolution, for a vote by the full Senate. Since the committee designated the resolution “Do Pass,” chances for passage appear good.
Since similar resolutions affirming state sovereignty over those powers not granted to the federal government as stated in the Tenth Amendment have been introduced in the legislatures of at least 14 states, we can expect passage of these resolutions in many more states this year. Already this Tenth Amendment Movement is beginning to rival the Repeal Real ID Movement in number of states involved; however, it has built up its momentum over a much shorter time period and therefore has the potential to continue growing at a rapid rate and begin turning back the Big Government tide that has eroded personal freedom in our nation for nearly a century.

National Public Radio’s Scott Simon (of weekend edition) had a very interesting piece on the emerging Christian Independent film movement.
It is so wonderful that this movement has gotten the attention of the liberal biased media, just the fact that Fireproof was the highest grossing independent film of 2008 speaks volumes about the impact these films are having on our society.

Sen. Barbara Boxer is urging the U.S. to ratify a United Nations measure meant to expand the rights of children, a move critics are calling a gross assault on parental rights that could rob the U.S. of sovereignty.
Critics say the treaty, which creates “the right of the child to freedom of thought, conscience and religion” and outlaws the “arbitrary or unlawful interference with his or her privacy,” intrudes on the family and strips parents of the power to raise their children without government interference.
Nearly every country in the world is party to it — only the U.S. and Somalia are not — but the convention has gained little support in the U.S. and never been sent to the Senate for ratification.
Boxer has made clear her intent to revive the ratification process under the Obama administration, which may be amenable to the move. During a Senate confirmation hearing last month, Boxer said she considers it “a humiliation” that the U.S. is “standing with Somalia” in refusing to become party to the agreement, while 193 other nations have led the way.
Because of the Supremacy Clause in Article VI of the Constitution, all treaties are rendered “the supreme law of the land,” superseding preexisting state and federal statutes. Any rights or laws established by the U.N. convention could then be argued to hold sway in the United States.
“To the extent that an outside body, a group of unaccountable so-called experts in Switzerland have a say over how children in America should be raised, educated and disciplined — that is an erosion of American sovereignty,” said Steven Groves, a fellow at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank.
Parental rights groups are similarly stirred; they see in the U.N. convention a threat that the government will meddle with even the simplest freedoms to raise their children as they see fit.
Boxer, who sits on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, pushed for a 60-day timetable to review the convention and report back to the Senate — which would have left the Obama administration a March 23 deadline to move toward ratification.
“This is a complicated treaty, in many respects more than some others, given our system of federalism, and so we need to take a close look at how we manage the challenges of domestic implementation and what reservations and understandings might be appropriate in the context of ratification,” she said.
Boxer’s office, which ignored repeated calls and e-mails seeking comment, has not spelled out what if any reservations the senator would like to assert in ratifying the treaty. The State Department also refused to comment on timetables.

Make sure YOUR voice is heard on this. Call or email your senators and urge them to vote AGAINST this Treaty that would take away the rights of parents to train up their children in the way they should go. Stay informed about what pieces of legislation are being debated and voted on.

The Dallas Morning News carried a headline which read “Trans Texas Corridor is dead, TxDot says.” The article went on to report, “The Texas Department of Transportation announced this morning that it has officially killed the Trans Texas Corridor, saying that despite the project’s visionary aspects, it is clearly not the choice of Texans.”
The fact that TxDot is taking this action to disown the Trans Texas Corridor is testimony to the incredible job by grassroots activists who have opposed the TTC and the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP). We have made life miserable for these officials who have tried to force such policy on us in virtual secrecy. They’ve been caught and so they have bailed out.
However, we must also stay vigilant to TxDot’s next move. Just because they are conceding defeat on their first effort, certainly does not mean they are giving up. History has shown us that, when faced with strong opposition, the perpetrators of these bad polices go underground like the bugs they are and then resurface with a new plan ? which is just the old plan with a new name.
Said Hall, “No law has been changed, no minute order rescinded, no environmental document re-done (as is required by federal law), and there are still two contracts signed giving two Spanish companies the right of first refusal on segments of the corridor previously known as TTC-35 & TTC-69. So by every real measure, the Trans Texas Corridor goes on full steam ahead. What today’s hype was about is a political ploy to make the public go back to sleep while it gets built under a different name. While we welcome genuine responsiveness from TxDOT and a true repeal of the Trans Texas Corridor, this hardly qualifies.”
Celebrate this first victory and get ready to engage the enemy again. TxDot’s action gives us one major message ? we have them scared. We can and will stop the Trans Texas Corridor.

Today proves to be interesting. We will be holding our second session of our Answering Darwin Conference at church. Last night’s session saw 40 people come out to hear the Truth about Creation v. Evolution. I am excited about what the Lord is doing in this movement.
Phoebe, Jo and I sang at a funeral. Boy was I nervous! But we did well, and that was only because we had practiced and prayed up before hand.
According to my blog stats, imprimis sits at 999 visitors since October 14, 2008. That is really great!
Jaden continues to amaze me daily. He loves chess, and he is really good at it. So far he has beaten everybody here except Mom, Phoebe and I (who refuse to play!) He is still learning to be a gracious losser; we are working on that. Last week he beat Dad, Joel and Caleb! He is SO smart and we are learning to channel that into godly activities. He wants to memorize more scriptures, which is wonderful.
The last 4-5 days it has been in the 70s here with lots of sunshine and warm breezes! I love it here in Texas!
Today’s high is only 55, with a low tonight of 35, that’s more like February weather.
Greek and Latin studies are moving right along for me. I learn something new each time I open my books to study. Can you tell me what 3 Latin words are repeated in Revelation 4:8? Leave your guess in the comment box.
Life is always full of unexpected things, good and bad. I love thses verses for all times:
God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah

Today is February 12th, just another ordinary day right? Wrong. Today is actually the day that two very important men were born. Charles Darwin, British naturalist and father of the theory of Evolution and Abraham Lincoln our 16th president. Yep, they were born on the exact same day two hundred years ago!
Since the world will be celebrating Darwins 200th birthday, and the USA is celebrating Presidents Day (albeit next week), I thought you would enjoy reading this short little article about these two men and their impact on society.
P.S. The 12th was also the anniversary of Cotton Mather’s birth and death. read more here.
Soli deo gloria!
