If President Obama is hoping to change the tone in Washington, it’s hard to imagine how having Eric Holder onboard as his attorney general will help accomplish that goal.
Much has been written about would-be Attorney General Holder’s support for liberal positions, but little has been written about his visceral contempt for conservatives.
Read the rest of the article here. Then take action, call or email your senators and tell them to vote NO on the Holder nomination! He wants to take our Second Amendment rights away from law abiding citizens!

Government on Steroids?
Well, the latest fads amongst the “Gang of 400” in Washington is: SPEND!!! SPEND!!! SPEND!!! What do they want to spend? Your tax dollars, all 900 BILLION of them!
So, what can we do to stop those dirty, greedy companies from lining up with their slop buckets at the trough of state? Get some people mad!
I think it is time we had some treason hearings about our government “leaders” who are on steroids gone bazerk! The age of accountability has seemingly slipped into the past, and the time for reckless behavior has all but replaced it.
Here are some things you, as an American citizen can and should do:
Call: Your senators and congressman should know what YOU think about all of this hogwash (no pun intended). You might think about calling them once or twice a week, just to let them know that they are working for you and that if they are not performing, they might just be fired.
Sign up: Become a part of a PAC (Political Action Committee) – Campaign For Liberty is one of my favorites. The John Birch Society, Gun Owners of America and Worldview Times and many others are doing us a great service sounding the alarm about many issues on the frontlines of this battle. They will send you emails (called action alerts) letting you know what you need to do; most of them provide pre-written email forms that you simply sign your name to and send off to your government person.
Blog: If you have your own blog you need to let your voice be heard, freedom of speech right? Post articles from economists who have their heads on straight (e.g. Peter Schiff), statesman and government history gurus who know what they are talking about (e.g. Pat Buchanan, Ron Paul). This needs to be front and center because our freedoms are being eroded rapidly, just since Mr. Obama has taken over the sinking ship (wreck) of state.
Write: Letters to the editor expressing your opinion (or rage) about this mess! Make sure they are intelligent and not just goofy ramblings that will be written off as a joke. We want people to know just how serious we are, and maybe they will start listening. It is not too late to do something. To borrow from J.F.K “ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”
I have hope that those American’s who truly care about their country will do something, something that matters. The vote for the “stimulus” package comes before the senate next week. Contact your senators and tell them to vote NO!
BTW, Freedom Day is tomorrow, Friday January 30, 2009. Call into your favorite talk show, and let them know about what freedoms we have lost and how important they are to you!
For Liberty and Justice,
Abby

It was somewhat of a surprise to awaken to frosty frozen grounds yesterday. I knew that there was a chance that it would get that cold, but come on, this is Texas. ;0
I love wearing vests, they are classy, and comfy. It was pretty cold wearing nothing on my head, but I survived.
Isn’t the mailbox pretty with the tendrills of
ice?
Jo did a really nice job of being our photographer!
The frozen path in our backyard. It looked so Narnia-ish.

Jaden tramping through the crunchy yard with his cowboy boots! Isn’t he cute?
The frosty tree in our side yard. I love this picture Jo took, the lighting was perfect! It makes the tree literally shine with a crystal glow.

So, I have been absent from the blog for a while, which is totally ok with me. :) I have been trying to stay off the computer as much as possible, because it sucks so much of my time away from me. This year, my new year’s resolution is to use my time more wisely, so that I can glorify my Father Jesus more perfectly and fully. So, my goal is to only blog and do things on the Internet on Tuesdays and Fridays. We’ll see how I do.
Last week was pretty busy:
Joel began CollegePlus! He had his first coaching call on Thursday, said he enjoyed it.
We went up to visit my Aunt and cousins near Bonham. Phoebe, Joel and I went, since the others had been out there recently. We had fun doing some target practice and shooting clay sports targets, that was the funnest part. :)
We had church activities 3 times during the week, and as always Dad preached a wonderful sermon. He is such a godly, righteous man. I have been so blessed for almost 19 years to be his daughter. I know so many other girls my age who don’t have a Dad or their parents are divorced and they only get to see him every now and then.
I finished William Wilberforceby William Hague, a massive tretise on the life and work of William Wilberforce. After watching Amazing Grace a few months ago, I wanted to learn more about the amazing Wilberforce and his life. The really great thing about this book is that it not only talks about him and his friends, the slavery campaign, but it also talks about the culture and times surrounding him. He was an amazing Christian man who served God from the time he was a young adult right up until his death.
In my personal Bible study, I am going through the Psalms, Proverbs and I Thessalonians, which I am reading this month. I am trying to read one whole book in one month, over and over to become more familiar with its message. So far, I have learned that in Psalms and Proverbs the tongue and wisdom are talked about A LOT! Thessalonians is a letter of encouragement from Paul to the church in Thessalonica.
The weather has turned cold again after a beautiful weekend. There is a chance it could snow, but also they are calling for ice storm advisory’s for the next couple of days. Even though the skies are grey and overcast, there is a certain haunting beauty about winter. You can see the sky much better because there are no leaves in the trees, the moon shines brighter, and there are winter birds that aren’t around in the warmer weather. There are the cutest little Eastern Phoebes that keep popping up around our neighborhood. They have the sweetest chirpy song.
Recently I have been teaching myself how to play Beethoven’s Consecration, a beautiful, stirring piece of classical music that Caleb and Phoebe have already mastered. I have such a desire to play, but so little time. I think I’m finally beginning to get it, although it is far from perfect. Johanna is doing well in her musical studies, she trys to keep up with Caleb and Phoebe and all of the songs they seem to just “learn.”
Teaching Jaden to read is so much fun! He is learning very quickly. My goal is to have him reading simple books by the end of Feb. or the beginning of march. We’ll see.

26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.28 And God blessed them.
Genesis 1:26-28a
January is sanctity of human life month. The 22nd marked the 36th “anniversary” of the Roe v. Wade decision handed down by the Supreme Court.
Ever since 1973, upwards of 50 million babies have been aborted and millions of moms and dads have been forever changed by the death of their unborn baby. Praise the Lord that He is a gracious and forgiving God, one who loves and saves. He is merciful, and compassionate. He can forgive you, if you have had an abortion, He sent His one and only Son to die, that you might be saved!
Nationally, there are marches for life held, speeches given, moments of silence, forums held and special events to remember those lives that have been so shamelessly taken.
I want to focus on another kind of story, one that captures the true meaning of what life is, and the enormous value we should place on it. This video is Eliot’s story, through the eyes of his parents; it will move you to tears as you see the faith and love played out in the Mooney’s during their son’s short time here on earth.
Blessings,
Abby - Soli Deo Gloria (To God alone be glory)

After our Christmas activities we headed up to the
nearby park where we messed around for a
while.
We all had fun together, jogging pretty much all the way to the park (boy was I puffing after that!)
We swung on the swings, we played a different sort of ball game, we kicked the soccer ball around, we goofed off and generally enjoyed each others company. We were up at the park for about 1 hour, and it was such a lovely day, the weather was very sultry and balmy. As we were leaving, we paused long enough to get our picture taken along the cool stone walls to the entrance at the ball-fields. l-r Joel, Me, Caleb, Phoebe, Johanna & Jaden ~

After we got home from the park, we decided to clean up some of the “mess” that accumulates after gifts are unwrapped, food is eaten and people generally living in a house together.
Joel purchased 2 DVDs as Christmas presents, for our family he bought John Moore’s Siblings: Heartstrings a heartwarming story of family ties as they are meant to be. His recent feature film (The Widows Might) won the Jubilee grand-prize at the San Antonio Christian Independent Films Festival.
Also, Joel purchased the Return of the Daughters - A documentary about being a daughter in her father’s house made by the Botkin family, and highlighting other family’s who are honoring God and working together to further His kingdom, in a very biblical and “non traditional” way. I was very encouraged by this film, and would encourage all daughters to watch this and consider what is being stated through this film.
We enjoyed watching these God-honoring films and being together as a family celebrating the Day of the Gift, Christ in the manger.

Day 2 of the project (Tue. morn.)
The walls on the N., W. and E. sides are all gone. The house started to lean pretty badly to the S. and so we had to stabilize it using a “come along” chain.
Caleb and Phoebe on the second floor, removing the shingles and tar-paper. They worked in such a precarious position that at times the whole structure was rocking, I was kind of scared for them. Thankfully everything worked out just fine.
Removing the shingles and tar-paper from the N. side of the roof.
Jaden being our nail puller, as you can see he had quite a job.
Removing the S. side of the roof. We never finished this side, so it was a lot easier and lighter than the N. side because it didn’t have shingles.
More pictures to come ~
