Time with Uncle Jim – Monday

Joel, Jim and I arrived at Grandpa and Grandma’s house around 1:50 AM, where we soon bedded down for the rest of the night.  We got up fairly early, ate a hearty and delicious breakfast made by Grandma.  Then we headed out to run a bunch of errands that Uncle Jimmy wanted to get done before heading back to Germany the following morning.

sdc10460  Enjoying a wonderful Tex-Mex meal at On The Boarder.  Joel is talking on his cell… I thought this was one of the reasons you didn’t want one Joel! :)

After we had run around in the DFW area, we headed up to Denton to spend some more time with Becky and our cousins, and also accomplish some more shopping.  We had a lot of fun hanging out, laughing, and looking at things in various stores, although we really didn’t find what we were looking for.

Aunt Becky allowed my cousins Rachel and Rowena to accompany us back to Dallas, once our shopping trip was complete, to spend the night with me at Grandma’s.   We all ate dinner together, sat around chatting and enjoying each others company, and then watched a couple of movies.  Jason was watching the History Channel, and the particular show that was on at that time was about the conspiracy that surrounded Hitler and those who wanted to kill him, so that the atrocities would end.  The interesting thing was that, while some of us were in the family room watching this documentary, Grandpa, Joel & Uncle Jim were talking about our ancestor’s who lived in Germany during WWII, and how they didn’t respect or like in the least Hitler and what he was doing.

After the meal was cleaned away, and the conversation finished, we gathered around Grandma’s big screen television and watched Ben Stein’s hard-hitting documentary Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed with Uncle Jim, Jason, Rachel and Rowena.  It is such a powerful film, and I want everyone in the world to watch, understand and take action about the massive problems we are facing in the worlds of science and education.

We stayed up helping Uncle Jim pack his suitcases.  He had books, DVDs, food and clothing to try and fit into 2 suitcases and 1 carry-on.  It was a tight-fit, but we made it.  :)   We finally said good-night around 1, and headed off to enjoy a short night’s sleep.  Rowena, Rachel and I shared Grandpa & Grandma’s king-size bed upstairs… it was very comfortable and I actually was able to get some sleep.
