[im-pri-mis] Only ONE Life to Live for Christ!

The changing of this blog’s theme

I know, I know, you are all probably wondering “what in the world is going on?  I mean every time I come to imprimis the background is, well totally different from my last visit.”  Correct you are, I had a hard time deciding on what theme I should settle after the Christmasy one I had for a couple of weeks (snow fall included).

The theme I have now and will keep until I decide to change is the first theme I had when I started this blog.  I hope that you like it as much as I do, and no, I won’t be changing it too soon. :)

Have a blessed day!

~Abby

Philippians 3:7-11 be Thou my Vision

Thoughts for the Day

Psalm 111:1-10

Praise the Lord!
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart,
in the company of the upright, in the congregation.
Great are the works of the Lord,
studied by all who delight in them.
Full of splendor and majesty is his work,
and his righteousness endures forever.
He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered;
the Lord is gracious and merciful.
He provides food for those who fear him;
he remembers his covenant forever.
He has shown his people the power of his works,
in giving them the inheritance of the nations.
The works of his hands are faithful and just;
all his precepts are trustworthy;
they are established forever and ever,
to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness.
He sent redemption to his people;
he has commanded his covenant forever.
Holy and awesome is his name!
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all those who practice it have a good understanding.
His praise endures forever!

Why are we here?  To serve, to worship, to be of service to our King.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

We are here to Honor God, Serve others, and live a life of Worship to Jesus.  Jesus said in Luke:

29 But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. 32 So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’ 36 Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” 37 He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”  (emphasis added)

Merry Christmas!

120px-gerard_van_honthorst_00112Hey everyone!

I hope that you are all able to spend Christmas day reflecting on the Gift that was given 2,000 years ago. The babe in the manger in Bethlehem was our dear savior, Jesus Christ, God’s Son, born to die.

May the Light of the world shine down upon you and guid your way this Christmas and in the new year!

I won’t be blogging until after the holidays, so check back then.  I am looking forward to spending time with my grandparents in Dallas tomorrow, and then with my parents and siblings on Christmas day.  Saturday I have cousins coming down from Minnesota (originally from Japan), and Sunday, church activities of course.

A very Merry Christmas to you and yours!!!!!

~Abby

It’s A Wonderful Life

Here is one of my favorite Christmas movies.  It’s a real parable for these tough economic times.

Remember… Jesus is still on the Throne, He is still in control of our lives, circumstances and all glory goes to Him!

Merry Christmas

everybody!

I wanted to share several pictures from Jaden’s life with you, these are just some random ones starting off from the very beginning and going on through his life.

scanned-photo-1-4Grandpa, Grandma & Jaden ~ So cute.

scanned-photo-1-7 He looks so small!  It’s hard to imagine him being that little now.

scanned-photo-2 I was SO thrilled to meet him for the first time! sdc10277 November 2008 – what a handsome little gent!  sdc105471 Hanging out with his buddy Reece (our cousin) sdc10670 Raking the leaves, being a good helper – Nov. ‘08dscn8609 Planting sod in our front yard – what a hard, hot job that turned out to be.  It was way over 100 degrees and we came up with creative ways to keep cool (e.g. the Egyptian headress).  Jaden is so cute in this picture.  He couldn’t do much beyond stopming down and watering the completed sod.

dscn8809  Learning to play his first song – Mary Had a Little Lamb.  He soon taught himself how to play it on the black-keys.  Pretty amazing!

The weekend zipped by quickly, and with it the beautiful 60-70 degree weather.  Yesterday morning we awoke to grey, cloudy skies and cold.

We got sleet yesterday, and this morning our street has ice on it.  The highways were like a parking lot due to the bad weather yesterday.

On Sunday afternoon, our church went caroling at a local nursing home, where we also passed out small gifts to the residence.  Caleb, Phoebe and I played our instruments for the people as we walked down each hallway caroling with the people from our church.  After the time of caroling at the nursing home, we went back to the church for some fellowship, food and fun.  Some of our friends had come with their 3 children, and we enjoyed playing with them along with the twins who go to our church.  It was pretty noisy there for a while. :)

After we had enjoyed the food, we cleaned up and then those of us who stayed around went to the sanctuary to watch The Star of Bethlehem   which is the hypothesis of one man who has studied about what the star could have been, in real history.   It is a powerful, stunning film and several people were very interested in viewing it again.

Today it is very cold, 24.8 degrees to be exact, but with the wind-chill it’s 17.   Brrr!   I do believe that I will be staying in my beautiful, cozy and warm house all day. :)    It is beautiful, in almost a rugged way, the sky so heavy with clouds its hard to imagine it not being very cold, the wind whipping the bare limbs of trees, sleet falling.  I am very thankful for a warm house with central heat on days like these.  Knowing that there are people living under bridges, in their cars, or at a homeless shelter makes me realize how very blessed I am and how much I take for granted sometimes.

God bless your day!  :)

My new purse

sdc10736  Green is one of my all time favorite colors.  I especially love forest green (the color of my new purse), celery green (the color of my t-shirt in this picture), and dark green.

sdc10726 It is really HUGE (which is what I wanted) and has these cute draw-string pockets on the front.

sdc10735 Here I am with my new purse… Grandma gave me some $$ and I was able to buy it on Thursday when I went Christmas shopping.  It was on sale too which was great because the orignial price was $24.99 + tax!

 sdc10728 Just hanging around.   Thank you Grandma for giving me the money to buy this purse!  I really like it, and look forward to using it allot in the coming days, weeks, months and years!  Love you!  Abby

I look forward to more exciting times in the future, and am excited that you will be a part of them! :)

God bless you all this Christmas season!

Gratefully,
